As one of the premier contractors in Southern MN, A.J. Lysne has completed contracting projects totaling hundreds of millions. Facilities include churches, restaurants, retail, medical facilities, industrial plants, government buildings and a major player in the construction and remodeling or schools in Southern MN.

Design- Build

Hormel Foods Corporation, a Fortune 500 company and one of Minnesota's foremost industries, needed to expand their hog slaughtering capacities by almost 25%. They gave seven firms from all over the U.S. the opportunity to plan the needed facilities—from two pages of specifications.

A team of A.J. Lysne personnel as well as architectural, engineering, electrical, mechanical, and processing equipment professionals mobilized to submit the winning bid to design and build the $19 million dollar project. Hormel foods continued to run their operations side-by-side with new construction on a daily basis with NO shutdown in production.

Historic Renovation

Historical renovation can be a challenge that not all firms are willing to undertake. A.J. Lysne has the expertise to bring structures to 20th century efficiency and utilization, while still preserving their latter day charm, style and integrity.

Some historic renovations:

  • Norwest Bank, Owatonna, MN (Prairie School Architecture-Louis Sullivan Designed)
  • Steele County Courthouse, Owatonna, MN
  • United Methodist Church, Austin, MN
  • San Marcos Resort, Chandler, AZ

Industrial Plant Management

A.J. Lysne is known as a leader in plant maintenance in Minnesota and Iowa. Some plants take care of their own needs-others prefer to hire highly-trained professionals to whom they can assign the responsibility. Thus A.J. Lysne has the staff of brilliant craftsmen who can meet these industrial plant maintenance needs.

Over the years A.J. Lysne has had many major industrial clients, including out-state plants in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. One customer we currently work with has been our client for over 35 years with A.J. Lysne staff working seven days a week.

Heavy Equipment Moving & Setting

Although A.J. Lysne no longer moves buildings, they are the premier experts in moving and setting heavy equipment in manufacturing and industrial locations. Some projects involve a few hours, some a week, some are long term projects.

An example is a project for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. A.J. Lysne’s challenge was to place a medical incinerator for disposing of medical waste. The equipment came in two pieces-one weighing 100,000 pounds, the other 83,000 pounds. Crane use was out of the question-the walls and roof were already in place. Utilizing a 4-point lift system, Lysne personnel successfully placed the units for operation.

Multi-State Work

The bulk of A.J. Lysne’s work occurs in southern Minnesota, the firm has the capabilities of working virtually anywhere in the United States. A.J. Lysne has transported personnel and equipment to complete projects in the following locations:
